AMD Radeon Embedded E9550 and E9260 Graphics Cards Unveiled - Double The Performance Per Watt Over Last Generation

AMD launched their embedded applications GPU lineup yesterday and I thought information technology would be worth roofing albeit a chip late. The embedded lineup will be replacing the older E8XXX serial lineup that the company introduced last year. The presentation blueprint (the cosmic groundwork) hints at Polaris compages existence the show runner this time although the core configurations have remained near the same as the last generation. Thanks to the shift to 14nm architecture nevertheless, the functioning per watt has more or less doubled across the board for the lineup, making information technology a very significant update for those concerened.

AMD Embedded Lineup Updated With Polaris Architecture - Most Double The Performance Per Watt

The older E8950 MXM based GPU has been succeeded by the AMD Radeon E9550 MXM based GPU. The cadre configuration has remained at 36 CUs although the tiptop compute performance has been almost doubled to an impressive v.8 TFLOPs in unmarried precision tasks. The GPU supports GPU supports 4K HEVC encode and decode (which was present in the E8XXX generation besides) and has the same 95W of TDP every bit its predecessor. The GPU is packaged in the MXM Blazon B form gene and will accept up to dual mode half-dozen Display Port outputs. The omnibus width remains at 256 chip with 8GB of GDDR5 retentivity on lath. This graphics card appears to be based on the Polaris 10 GPU from AMD based on the 14nm FinFET compages from GlobalFoundries.

Secondly, we accept the AMD Radeon E9260 PCIe GPU. This particular flavor of AMD's embedded series features a low contour PCIe based pattern with a half-length, single slot shroud as well as a blower blazon fan. Useful for server applications, this nifty piffling GPU will maxes out at around two.five TFLOPs of compute with only fourteen CUs on lath (most the same corporeality of power with half the CUs equally last generation's flagship). The graphics card is equipped with a 128-chip omnibus / 4 GB of retention and is rated at 50W TDP. It also features 4K HEVC encode and decode which is a step upwardly from its predecessor (The E8870 Embedded GPU series) which only featured dual HD encode and decode. The graphics carte du jour has 4 mDP output ports.

Lastly, we have the AMD Radeon R9260 MXM based GPU. This is a similar 14 CU variant of the E9260 PCIe and succeeds the E8870 generation of embedded Radeon graphics cards from AMD. Based on a Type A MXM course factor, the GPU should have compute functioning similar to its PCIe-based sibling at around <two.five TFLOPs of unmarried precision compute. It also has a 128-bit wide bus with 4 GB GDDR5 memory too as 5 dual mode Display Port outputs. The TDP for the GPU has been listed at less than 50W (which ways it should deliver very slightly reduced performance as compared to the PCIe variant).
